Our Chinese New Year performance is a great way to celebrate our last day of school before the holiday and welcome in the new year. All family members and caregivers are welcome to attend.
The students will arrive at school at 8:30 am (K1 and K2 students together). We will have some free play time, story time, outdoor play, and a snack before the performance.
We kindly request that parents arrive at 10:30 am, and the performance will start at 10:40 am. The children are always very excited to have their family members at school to see them perform, so please make sure that you are there on time to avoid your child feeling left out.
Children are encouraged to dress in traditional Chinese clothing or something festive for the celebration. However, please don't dress them too warmly, since they may get too hot while singing and dancing. If you are worried they will get cold during the dragon walk outside, please bring a coat/jacket for them.
Each class has made a dragon costume. After the performance, we will ask some of the grandparents to help us paint in the eyes on the dragon costume. The children will then wear the dragon costumes and go on a short walk through the neighbourhood. They will take turns wearing the dragon head and leading their classmates.
Leaving early
If you plan to go on holiday and your child will not be here on the day of the Chinese New Year performance, please let us know as soon as possible.
